Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has praised Jadon Sancho for his recent form and significant development since joining from Manchester United.
Improved Form and Finishing
Sancho has been instrumental for Chelsea in recent weeks, scoring in back-to-back Premier League matches against Southampton and Tottenham, and providing five assists this season. Maresca highlighted the winger’s newfound ability to finish chances as a major improvement in his game, a quality that was previously lacking.
During his time at Manchester United, Sancho contributed to only 18 goals across 83 appearances. However, at Chelsea, he has already been involved in seven goals in just 10 matches. Maresca believes Sancho is now combining creativity with clinical finishing, making him a more complete attacking player.
Maresca’s Insights
Speaking to Chelsea’s official website, Maresca said:
“Jadon is doing very well. Previously, he always looked for an assist when he got into scoring positions, but now he’s taking shots and becoming more effective.
“This season, we’ve seen goals from various positions—our right wingers, central players, and strikers. However, we’ve struggled on the left side. Now, with Enzo and Jadon stepping up, we’re getting the balance we need. Off the ball, the team has to work hard too. It’s not just about playing with the ball; it’s about sacrifice and effort when we don’t have possession.”
Chelsea’s Title Chase
Chelsea are currently second in the Premier League, trailing leaders Liverpool by four points. With a game against Brentford on Sunday, Maresca’s side will aim to close the gap and maintain their impressive form.
