Liverpool and Manchester City are reportedly in a transfer tug-of-war for Torino midfielder Samuele Ricci, as both clubs look to strengthen their squads in January.
A Rising Star in Demand
Ricci, who joined Torino from Empoli in 2022, has made 95 appearances for the club and earned six caps for Italy. Capable of playing as either a defensive or central midfielder, he showcased his skills in Italy’s recent 3-1 Nations League victory over France. With a contract running until 2026, Torino is demanding over €30 million (£25m/$31.5m) for the 22-year-old, but this price tag is unlikely to deter suitors.
Liverpool and City Eye Midfield Reinforcements
Both clubs initially pursued Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi, but his back injury has forced them to consider alternatives. Manchester City is seeking cover for the injured Rodri, while Liverpool is also exploring midfield upgrades. Interest from Italian giants AC Milan and Inter adds further competition for Ricci’s signature.
